  • Many portals do simple 1 to 1 skills match when recommending jobs to the jobseekers
  • These job engines are generally not able to provide personalised jobs options for a job seeker searching for suitable jobs on the platform

How can Jobtech offer recommendations with higher quality job matching as well as career planning?

A machine learning system was built to recommend jobs to candidates based on their academic records and other individual factors:

  • Models are trained on large set of academic and non-academic data, as well as job skill requirements
  • The AI system is able to identify skills associated with jobs and also identify associations between courses and skills
  • Algorithms parse a student’s resume and module records to get a student’s skills profile, taking into account their most important skills
  • The algorithm then matches suitable job or internship opportunities to that skillset, and also highlights the other skills required to make the student more career ready

Outcomes

A free app on Google Play Store and iOS App Store (NUS career+) that uses this technology to facilitate career planning and job matching was developed and made available to all 40,000+ NUS students and 300,000+ alumni
