Announcing the Grant Awardees of the Singapore – New Zealand Joint Grant Call for Leveraging AI for Healthy Ageing

AI Singapore (AISG) and the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) are proud to announce the awardees of the Singapore – New Zealand Joint Grant Call for Leveraging AI for Healthy Ageing. Launched in December 2024, this initiative aims to foster deeper scientific and technological collaboration between Singaporean and New Zealand researchers in the transformative fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare.

With a focus on applied research, the program encourages the development of practical healthcare solutions and novel products and services that will positively impact the lives of older adults.

Following a rigorous and competitive evaluation process, we are delighted to announce the following outstanding research teams as grant recipients:

  • An AI-Driven Risk Score for Dementia Ready for Clinical Use

Led by Asst. Prof. Saima Hilal (National University of Singapore) and Prof. Lynette Tippett (University of Auckland)

  • AI-InterRAI: AI-Assisted InterRAI Assessment and Evaluation for Person-Centred Care Planning and Healthy Ageing

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dai Bing Tian (Singapore Management University) and Assoc. Prof. Hamish Jamieson (University of Otago)

  • AIMCura: AI-augmented Interactive Platform for Longitudinal Cognitive Health Monitoring in Remote Care

Led by Dr. Liu Yong (A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing) and Dr. Binh Nguyen (Victoria University of Wellington)

Each selected team will receive funding of up to SGD 1,330,000 and NZD 4,000,000 over a period of three years to support their collaborative research efforts.

This grant call underscores the shared commitment of Singapore and New Zealand to harness cutting-edge technologies for societal good, and sets a strong foundation for future research collaborations between both countries.
